There are many options for those who wish to cycle or hike this area. For on-road cycling or walking visitors can enjoy historic Everglades City with its low-traffic roads and beautiful sunsets along the Barron River. Tour the Museum of the Everglades, visit the original Collier County Courthouse, ride past the Old Bank Building and enjoy lunch at the Rod & Gun Club or one of our many great seafood restaurants. Ride out to the islands of Plantation and Chokoloskee; be sure to stop by the old trading post, now the Smallwood Store & Museum.

For the more adventuresome cyclists / hikers, you have unlimited opportunities to get out into the wild at many of our various parks and preserves. The Friends of the River of Grass Greenway is committed to establishing the safe use by the general public of US41 across the Everglades between Naples and Miami, focusing on safety and environmental education and stewardship for those hiking, walking, and cycling through south Florida and the Everglades.
