DESCRIPTION:The Third Thursday Talks hosted by the Museum of the Everglades are geared towards teaching and preserving the history of the area. \nOctober 16 -Pathways to Partnership: Listening\, Learning\, and Working Together\nIn this companion lecture to Sharing the Path\, Museum Manager Thomas Lockyear will explore the ways in which partnerships with our region’s indigenous people have shaped our understanding of and relationship with what has been described as “one of the harshest environments on earth” — both historically and in present day. \nMr. Lockyear will also discuss the evolution of the exhibit as well as the Museum’s 2023 collaboration with the Miccosukee Tribe on the We Are Still Here exhibit that shared their history from their own perspective. The talk will also include stories of successful historic partnerships and other lessons from the past as well as our blueprint to build better strategies for the future based on traditional indigenous knowledge. \nGet all the details at colliermuseums.com.
