DESCRIPTION:NOVEMBER 4\, 2023\nRace Starts at 8:00 a.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. Administrative Center Campus. \n\n\n\n5775 Osceola Trail\nNaples\, FL 34109 \n\n\n\nThis years event is designed to bring the focus of health and wellness to Collier County students\, teachers\, school staff\, and the community. In 2019\, there were over 2\,100 participants with 100% of schools participating\, making it the 2nd largest 5K event in Collier County. This year\, we want to bring 2\,500 people together to run or walk in an effort to raise awareness of healthy living. \nThe school district is committed to promoting wellness\, nutrition\, and an active lifestyle. Proceeds from the event will support District schools. Supporting this 5K Walk-Run helps impact all 50\,000 CCPS students. This is one of the few initiatives that can offer that scope of impact. All participants will receive a chipped (timed) bib\, however\, you can choose to participate in one of the following: 5K Run/Fun Run or OneMile Walk. DESCRIPTION:Park Volunteer Coordinator\, Alex Gobel\, would like to invite all interested persons to visit the beautiful Fakahatchee Strand to participate in the 2023-24 Fakahatchee Strand Bio Blitz! The Bio Blitz takes place on a series of seven different dates. Those interested in volunteering may participate in as many\, or as few\, Blitzes as they would like. \nThe Bio Blitz is an important activity which assists the park staff with understanding the wildlife trends within the park\, and subsequently aids in the planning and management of the park. During the two-hour session\, volunteers are stationed along Janes Scenic Drive\, and record their wildlife observations. \nThis interesting opportunity occurs one Wednesday per month\, beginning November 2023\, through May 2024. Each month\, on the designated Wednesday\, volunteers meet at the Park Office at 7:45AM and then proceed to Blitz from 8:30-10:30AM. With kid’s activities\, swamp buggies\, airboats and more\, there are opportunities for the whole family to learn and get involved!\n\nThe goal of this festival is to shine a spotlight upon the inhabitants of early south Florida\, whose rugged strength and pioneering spirit contributed to the shaping of today’s unique and diverse culture. Through living history demonstrations\, informative presentations\, and exhibits everyone can learn what daily life was like in such a remote\, and at times\, inhospitable place. It is these unique chapters in American history that add to the rich and colorful tableau that comprises our shared past and present. In 2023\, we are bringing back this perfect example of collaboration and community in order to share the knowledge and cultures of the past.
