POI: Trip Time to the Ocean

How long does it take to get out to the ocean from Port of the Islands It usually takes around 45 minutes to cruise from the Port of the Islands to the ocean. The journey includes navigating through a long, no-wake zone canal, providing a delightful and unhurried ride. Bring a cover for sun protection during this slow and scenic route. About half an hour in, you’ll arrive at the expansive and naturally beautiful mangroves before reaching the open waters of the ocean.

The 6th Annual Hook’em in the Glades fishing fundraiser supporting Everglades City Schools is scheduled for November 3-4, 2023! Teams will fish the 10,000 islands for a chance to catch the biggest Snook, Redfish, and Seatrout while supporting our school.

Event Schedule:

Captain’s Meeting: (Captains must attend to receive their official tournament measuring device and tournament rules.)

5:30 pm – Captain’s Check-in and Happy Hour
6:30 pm – Dinner will be served

Tournament:

7:00 am – Photo Fishing tournament
2:00 – 4:00 pm – Boat check-in at Camellia Street Grill
3:30 pm – Junior Angler SHORE DIVISION must be checked in. Awards Ceremony at 4:00 pm.
