Ochopee
by Denise Wauters
If you’ve ever wanted to experience a true slice of old-Florida culture, this is the day to circle on your calendar. The 76th Annual Wild Hog BBQ Festival returns to Ochopee on Saturday, February 28, 2026, continuing one of the longest-running Glades traditions around.
Hosted by the Everglades Conservation and Sportsmen Club, the Wild Hog BBQ is a full-day celebration of Gladesmen heritage, community, and time-honored South Florida traditions.
More Than Just a BBQ
This isn’t a quick bite and go home kind of event. Expect a lively, down-home atmosphere with live music, good company, and plenty of reasons to stick around all day. Taking the stage are local favorites Jack Shealy Band and AJ & Southern Stampede, bringing rock ’n’ roll energy straight to the swamp.
After seventy-six years, this annual gathering continues to celebrate the culture, way of life, and traditions that define the Glades — the kind of event that feels unchanged in all the right ways.
A Family-Friendly Glades Tradition
The Wild Hog BBQ Festival is built for all ages. Kids can enjoy fun activities while adults kick back, catch up with friends, and soak in the atmosphere. Bring your lawn chairs, settle in, and enjoy a full day of music, food, and community.
Come Prepared & Stay Comfortable
Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and guests are welcome to bring small coolers and chairs. BYOB is allowed, making it easy to relax and enjoy the day at your own pace.
If you’ve never been, this is the year to experience what generations of locals already know — the Wild Hog BBQ is a South Florida tradition worth seeing in person.
