VisitEvergladesCity.com is a local guide and news platform focused on Everglades City, Chokoloskee, Goodland, Port of the Islands, Ochopee, Big Cypress National Preserve, Everglades National Park and The Ten Thousand Islands. The goal is simple: to help visitors and residents stay connected to what’s happening here, from local events and fishing updates to places to eat, stay, and explore.

The site is owned and operated by Denise Wauters, who has more than 30 years of experience in local publishing, marketing, design, and digital media. Denise purchased The Mullet Rapper in its early days when it was produced on copy paper and distributed by hand. She grew it into a full newspaper before eventually selling it. Denise also owns Paradise Web, a marketing agency focused on helping businesses grow.

The Mullet Rapper and VisitEvergladesCity.com operated simultaneously for a time, but after the sale of the newspaper, the focus shifted fully to VEC and the digital space, allowing for more timely updates, broader reach, and a more flexible platform for both visitors and the local community.

Today, VisitEvergladesCity.com operates independently as a digital-first platform. Through an ongoing agreement with the current publisher of the Mullet Rapper newspaper to continue to be featured on the site for convenience and continuity, though it is no longer produced by Denise or her team.

The mission remains the same: to support local businesses, highlight community events, and share the stories that make this area unique.

This is a locally run platform, built with a focus on real information, real businesses, and the people who make Everglades City what it is.
