Free Ranger-Led Programs at Big Cypress Preserve

Enjoy the beauty of Big Cypress with these free, ranger-led programs running through March 30th. Explore swamps, trails, and waterways while learning about the preserve’s natural and cultural history. Reservations are required for select activities.

Wet Walk into the Cypress Swamp (2 hours)

Monday–Friday 9:30 am
Saturday–Sunday 1:30 pm

Join a ranger-led adventure into the cypress swamp! Wade through crystal-clear waters and marvel at the unique ecosystem. Family-friendly walks are on Sundays, while Saturdays feature more challenging hikes. Wear old sneakers and bring a change of clothes. Easy and moderate walks are open to ages 5+, while Saturday hikes require children to be at least 48” tall.

Boardwalk Chats (20 minutes)

Daily 1:30 pm & 3:30 pm

These short and informative ranger programs focus on Big Cypress’ history, ecology, and wildlife. Perfect for all ages, they’re accessible and great for Junior Rangers. No reservations required.

Canoe Tours (3 hours)

Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 9:30 am

Paddle the Turner River with a ranger as your guide. Enjoy the preserve’s stunning waterways while learning about the environment. Canoes, paddles, and life jackets are provided. Basic paddling experience is required. Ages 5+ (children under 50 lbs. must bring their own approved life jacket).

Bike Tours (4 hours)

Saturdays & Wednesdays 10:00 am

Explore 14 miles of scenic dirt roads at Bear Island on a ranger-led bike tour. Bikes and helmets are provided. This program is recommended for adults who are comfortable cycling longer distances.
