Beginning April 1, Everglades National Park’s Gulf Coast site in Everglades City will close to the public for construction of the new Marjory Stoneman Douglas Visitor Center. This includes the canoe and kayak launch, visitor contact station, and adjacent parking areas. Alternate launch sites are available at Rod and Gun Club, Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee, and Chokoloskee Island Park and Marina. While closures are expected until the end of the year, the park’s Ten Thousand Islands area remains open, offering boat tours and paddling adventures.
