Homeschool Day at Roberts Ranch on April 23

Immokalee

Round up any homeschooling friends for a pioneer’s paradise at Roberts Ranch!

The Collier County Museums will host our triannual Homeschool Day at the Immokalee Pioneer Museum at Roberts Ranch this spring. With a focus on the pioneer era of Florida history, our skilled staff and volunteers will guide your children through hands-on experiences related to cattle ranching, food production, gardening, and daily chores. Families can drop in between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on April 23 for a peek at ranch life on our 14-acre property, complete with the preserved and restored ranch buildings the Roberts family used until their Red Cattle Company closed in 1979.

“Our goal with the Collier County Museum Division Homeschool Days is to provide a free experience that encourages engagement with our local history by appealing to the diverse age range and abilities of students in southwest Florida’s homeschooling community,” said Curator of Education Elaina Gyure. “We want the homeschool families of southwest Florida to feel welcome in our history museums.”

The Collier County Museums have begun offering triannual Homeschool Days for preschool through early high school, with modules geared towards each level. We’re giving approachable history lessons with a focus on what we like to call SHTEM (a combination of history and STEM) to get kids excited about our region’s heritage and history. Homeschool Days will cycle through our five museums so your family can get to know all of them!
