Nathaniel P. Reed Visitor Center is a key stop for visitors exploring Big Cypress National Preserve. Designed with energy conservation in mind, the building makes use of renewable resources and reflects the Preserve’s long-standing commitment to protecting the swamp.
Inside the visitor center, guests can explore indoor exhibits and printed information that share the natural and cultural history of the Big Cypress Swamp. An introductory film provides an overview of the Preserve and the many ways people experience and enjoy it. Outdoor exhibits and boardwalk views offer a closer look at the surrounding landscape.
The visitor center is also home to the Preserve’s off-road vehicle services, making it an important stop for visitors interested in designated off-roading opportunities within Big Cypress. National Park Service rangers and volunteers are available to help with general orientation and questions about the Preserve.
Visitor amenities include public restrooms, a Florida National Parks Association gift shop and bookstore, Passport To Your National Parks® stamps, and Junior Ranger materials.
