38000 Tamiami Trail E | Ochopee | Florida
The smallest post office in the nation is located at Ochopee, Florida, it has a rich history and is a tourist destination for those exploring the Everglades. The former tool shed was turned into the post office after the original Ochopee Post Office which had been located in the Gaunt Company Store was destroyed in a fire in 1953. In 1953 the former tool shed served a dual purpose as both the post office and the Trailways Bus Stop. When the Tamiami Trail was widened a wheel barrow was used to move the building to it’s current location. That definitely puts the size in perspective!
