by Denise Wauters
If you’re heading to Ochopee this weekend, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of one of South Florida’s longest-running traditions. The 76th Annual Wild Hog BBQ Festival takes over the grounds of the Everglades Conservation and Sportsmen Club on Saturday, February 28, 2026 — and it’s a full-day affair worth planning for.
What to Expect
This is an all-day Glades gathering built around good food, live music, and a laid-back swamp atmosphere. Expect classic Wild Hog BBQ traditions, plenty of time to relax, and a crowd that ranges from longtime locals to curious first-timers.
Live music keeps the energy going throughout the day with performances by Jack Shealy Band and AJ & Southern Stampede, delivering rock ’n’ roll with deep South Florida roots.
When to Arrive
Gates open at 10:00 a.m., and the festival runs until 6:00 p.m. Arriving earlier gives you time to settle in, grab food, and claim a good spot to enjoy the music as the day unfolds.
What to Bring
To stay comfortable all day, plan ahead:
- Lawn chairs for relaxing between sets
- Small coolers are allowed
- BYOB is permitted
- Cash or card for food and beverages available for purchase
