Snook Season Closing — Final Days to Fish Locally

Everglades

by Denise Wauters

If you fish around here, this is one we wanted to make sure you didn’t miss. As of today, May 1, the warm-weather Snook harvest closure is back in effect for the Southwest management region, which includes all waters of Everglades National Park.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) closes Snook harvest in the Southwest region every year from May 1 through September 30. The season reopens October 1.
Catch-and-release fishing for Snook is still allowed during the closure. Only harvest is prohibited.

For full regulations and the regional annual reviews, visit MyFWC.com/Snook.
