Havanna Cafe Brings Back Summer Sessions Starting May 14

Havanna Cafe in Chokoloskee has announced its Summer Session, running Thursday, May 14, through the last Sunday in July. The cafe wrapped up its Season 4 schedule on April 26 and is opening back up with a weekly lineup of music and Cuban cuisine.

Thursdays are open 11 a.m. to close with Karaoke Night.

Fridays and Saturdays run 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with Aldo Puentes on classic Cuban guitar during lunch.

Sundays bring breakfast and lunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring guest acoustic musicians.

You’ll find Havanna Cafe at 191 Smallwood Drive in Chokoloskee.

The team passed along thanks to the locals, seasonal regulars, and visitors who kept the place full all season — and they’re ready to do it all over again.

No. Dogs must always be kept on a leash when visiting Everglades National Park and surrounding park lands.

In most areas, dogs are not allowed on trails, boardwalks, or backcountry routes at all, even on a leash. Where pets are permitted (such as certain roadside or developed areas), they must be:

  • On a leash no longer than 6 feet
  • Under control at all times
  • Kept out of wildlife areas and water

These rules are in place to protect:

  • Sensitive wildlife (including birds, reptiles, and mammals)
  • Fragile ecosystems
  • Your dog’s safety (alligators, snakes, and heat are real risks here)

If you’re traveling with a dog, it’s best to check specific park rules before visiting or plan pet-friendly activities outside the national park boundaries.

Visitors should still plan ahead by bringing water, sun protection, and anything they’ll need for the day, and always pack out personal trash and respect the natural setting.
