Ochopee

One of the Everglades area’s favorite community traditions is back. The Everglades Lions Club Annual Turkey Shoot returns Saturday and Sunday, March 21–22, 2026, at Mayberry Cypress Tower Camp in Ochopee.
A Turkey Shoot is less about speed and more about luck and precision. Participants take a single shotgun shot at a target, and the shooter whose BB lands closest to the center earns bragging rights and a share of the round’s pot. You never really know who’s going to win — and that unpredictability is part of what keeps people coming back year after year.
What truly sets the event apart is the atmosphere. Families, longtime locals, and visitors gather throughout the day to visit with neighbors, cheer each other on, and enjoy a relaxed, small-town weekend together. It’s the kind of event where generations often show up side by side, making it just as much about community as competition.
The 2026 Turkey Shoot will include multiple round options throughout the weekend, along with raffles and door prizes. This year’s prize lineup includes Bass Pro gift cards valued at $150, $250, and $500.
The event is organized and supervised by the Everglades Lions Club and is designed to be welcoming for participants of all experience levels. Proceeds from the Turkey Shoot help support the Lions Club’s ongoing work in vision programs, hunger relief, school initiatives, and local community needs across the area.
