Everglades City
Last week Collier County Museums held an Appreciation Dinner for all the volunteers who donate their time across the five-museum system. During a brief ceremony, volunteers were recognized with service awards ranging from 5 to 15 years. At the peak of the celebration, a number of particularly dedicated volunteers received Presidential Service Awards at bronze, silver and gold levels for hundreds of hours worked. They received certificates from the White House in presentation folders and signed by the President.
The highest honor – a Lifetime Achievement Award went to our very own Sherry Geiger – who has dedicated more than 6000 hours of her time to volunteering at Museum of the Everglades!
“I’ve been here for seven years now, and Sherry started volunteering about a week after I started. She’s been right here beside me the whole time. You couldn’t ask for a more loyal and dedicated worker. Sherry volunteers twice a week and is always there to cook and serve food at our events – she’s the best” said Museum Manager Thomas Lockyear.
Congratulations on your award Sherry and thank you for sharing our local hospitality with visitors and helping to make Museum of the Everglades one of the most visited spots in Collier County.
