Obituary: Madison Bell Scott “Sonny”

(1944-2025)

Sonny was born on March 11, 1944 in Sarasota, Florida. When he was five the family relocated to Lakeland, Florida where he attended Lake Morton Elementary, Southwest Middle and Lakeland High School where he was homecoming king and Quarterback on the Dreadnaughts Football team. He attended the University of Florida where he was an ATO and was a huge Gator fan all his life.

He spent his career dealing in heavy duty equipment ending his career selling mobile concrete mixers for Zimmerman Industries out of Ephrata, Pennsylvania covering the state of Florida.

He enjoyed grilling and was a member of an award winning team at Pig Fest one year. But his main love was fishing and the Everglades where he spent his retirement years. When he was not out on the water looking for the elusive snook, he was volunteering as the head of the homeowners association on Plantation Island. He was instrumental in getting Collier County to commit to cleaning up the canals on the Island.

He is survived by his daughters, Dhanno Weaver(Shane) and Shelly Scott.

There are no plans for a service at this time. If you would like to remember him if some way, please make a donation to Friends of the Everglades.
