Baby Formula Toxin Testing

by Denise Wauters

The Florida Department of Health has released the results of independent testing on infant formula products sold in Florida, examining the presence of heavy metals and pesticides in products commonly used by families.

According to the Department of Health, 24 infant formulas across seven brands were collected from multiple retail locations, both online and in-store. Certified laboratories tested the products for mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead, and pesticides. The state reported that 16 of the 24 formulas tested contained elevated levels of one or more contaminants, based on existing federal reference benchmarks.

Among the products that showed elevated results, mercury was the most commonly detected contaminant, appearing above reference levels in all affected samples. Arsenic and cadmium were also found above benchmarks in multiple formulas, while lead appeared at elevated levels in a smaller number of products. In some cases, more than one contaminant was detected in the same formula.

State officials emphasized that the testing was conducted independently of manufacturers and that the results are intended to improve transparency and consumer awareness. The findings also highlight broader concerns about how food products are evaluated before reaching store shelves.

The complete infant formula testing results are available at ExposingFoodToxins.com, where detailed findings and explanations are provided.
