Tour the Museum of the Everglades, visit the original Collier County Courthouse, and stop for lunch at one of our many great restaurants. Walk out to the islands of Plantation and Chokoloskee; be sure to stop by the old trading post, now the Smallwood Store & Museum.

An Official Trail Town
In January 2019, our town was designated as an official trail town by Florida’s Office of Greenways and Trails. We were awarded this designation because of our proximity to the amazing paddling trails in the 10,000 Islands, the biking trails in the adjacent parks, and the hiking trails in the wilderness that surrounds us.
Everglades City is a small island with a year-round population of 400 on the SW coast of Florida, surrounded by Everglades National Park, Big Cypress Preserve and the Fakahatchee Strand State Park. There are several other State and National Parks just a short drive away.
Whether you are interested in paddling, hiking, biking or birdwatching, Everglades City puts you right at the gateway to some of Florida’s most unforgettable outdoor experiences. When you visit, plan to stay a few extra days so you can take advantage of the many unique things to do here.
