On February 20th, the Marco Island Fire-Rescue came to the monthly meeting of the Goodland Civics Association. Here they gave a demonstration on the AED machines. In a revolutionary step towards saving lives, the town of Goodland has implemented a groundbreaking initiative by introducing Automated External Defibrillators (AED). With two successful deployments already and three machines in total, Goodland stands at the forefront of safeguarding its citizens. AED machines have quickly become indispensable tools in the fight to save lives. An Automated External Defibrillator, abbreviated as AED, serves the purpose of assisting individuals undergoing sudden cardiac arrest. This advanced yet user-friendly medical device has the capability to analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if required, administer an electrical shock, known as defibrillation, to aid in restoring a proper and effective heart rhythm.
The 3 AED machines located in Goodland are currently at Drop Anchor, Goodland Boat Park, and MarGood Harbor Park. There is also Narcan made available if needed at these locations for an overdose emergency. The implementation of these AED machines in Goodland reflects a proactive approach towards public health and safety. By making this life-saving tool freely available to the community, the town authorities have demonstrated their commitment to preserving lives and fostering a supportive community environment.
