Everglades City

by Denise Wauters

For the past four years, Reverend Dr. Bob N. Wallace has been a cherished part of the Mullet Rapper, contributing thoughtful, humorous, and insightful articles to every single issue since February 20, 2021. His words have brought laughter, inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for the world around us.

Now, as he steps away from his role as a regular contributor, we take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for his dedication and the lasting impact he has made on our community newspaper.

Reverend Dr. Bob Wallace from Everglades Community Church in Everglades City FloridaBob has written on just about everything—history, faith, fishing, local events, and even the occasional quirky topic that left us chuckling.

His ability to weave humor into storytelling made every issue a delight. From the playful spirit of the May 15, 2021, edition featuring The Word ‘Little’ Can Often Get You in ‘Big’ Trouble, (Issue #390 p8) to the heartfelt reflections in the December 10, 2022, issue with Getting Your Card List Ready Can be Sobering, (Issue #426 p8) Bob’s voice has been an essential part of our community.

Who could forget the September 18, 2021, piece Anybody want to buy a slightly used exercise machine?, (Issue #399 p8) which had readers both laughing and side-eyeing their treadmills? Or the February 3, 2024 article Honey, I Thought You said This Was Florida, (Issue #448 p8) don’t you just love our weather? Bob has a way of turning even the most mundane topics into captivating tales, and that is a rare gift.

Bob’s writing has been a constant source of warmth and wisdom, and his presence in our pages will be deeply missed. He has made us laugh, made us think, and reminded us of the goodness that exists all around us.

While he may be stepping away from the paper, Bob isn’t going anywhere. As the pastor of Everglades Community Church, he will continue to be an integral part of the community, sharing his wisdom and kindness in many ways beyond the printed page.

Bob, from all of us here at the Mullet Rapper, thank you for your time, your words, and your heart.

We wish you nothing but happiness, and just maybe, an occasional guest column—because let’s be honest, we’re all going to miss your stories way too much!
